SANDRA FLUKE HAS STRONGEST FUNDRAISING PERIOD OF HER CAMPAIGN
Raises $475,000 in Three Months; Outraises Her Opponent by $175,000
In her September 30th quarterly fundraising report made public today, Sandra Fluke’s campaign for State Senate posted her most successful fundraising quarter yet. During the fundraising period of July 1st, 2014- September 30th, Fluke raised a very impressive $474,429 and ended the period with $325,000 cash on hand. To date, Fluke has raised more than a million dollars for her State Senate bid. But even more impressive than the grand total is the fact that Sandra’s campaign continues to be fueled by the contributions of small dollar donors and individuals. Sandra now has more than 4,500 individual donors, with an average donation of less than $250.
“Sandra’s fundraising success clearly demonstrates her growing momentum and base of support. Moreover, the fact that the vast majority of her funds come from small dollar, individual donors shows that she will have the independence necessary to take on the tough fights in Sacramento,” said Lindsay Bubar, General Consultant for Sandra Fluke’s campaign. By contrast, her opponent has been supported by more than $700,000 via an Independent Expenditure paid for by a single conservative mega-donor. Despite an abundance of large dollar and corporate special interest donations pouring in for her opponent, Fluke still outraised his campaign by $175,000 in the most recent filing period.
Sandra's fundraising success adds to the positive momentum she's gained since releasing a poll showing she is leading her opponent by an impressive seven point margin with an 18 percent name ID advantage. The detailed polling memo from Garin Hart Yang Research Group can be found here: http://www.standwithsandra.org/polling-memo. With Fluke’s lead in the polls, impressive fundraising capabilities, and her continued accumulation of influential endorsements, the momentum is undeniably in her favor.
Earlier today, Fluke announced the key endorsement of California Attorney General Kamala Harris.
Other prominent Southern California Democrats have endorsed Fluke, including U.S. Rep Janice Hahn, U.S. Rep Julia Brownley, U.S. Rep Karen Bass, U.S. Rep Tony Cardenas, State Senator Holly Mitchell, State Senator Hannah-Beth Jackson, California Assembly Speaker Toni Atkins, Los Angeles Councilmember Mike Bonin, Los Angeles Councilmember Nury Martinez and former Councilmember Bill Rosendahl. Fluke has also been endorsed by several labor unions and other influential organizations including AFCSME California PEOPLE, California Firefighters, UFCW Local 770, California Federation of Teachers, California Nurses Association, Planned Parenthood Advocacy Project, Sierra Club, California League of Conservation Voters, California NOW, EMILY’s List, NARAL Pro-Choice California, Pride PAC and Military Mental Health Project.
