THE ARGONAUT, ONE OF THE MOST TRUSTED NEWSPAPERS ON LA's WESTSIDE, ENDORSES FLUKE
Says Fluke is “Tested” and Endorses her Track Record of Legislative Advocacy
Today Sandra Fluke was endorsed by The Argonaut, one of the most trusted newspapers on the Westside of Los Angeles. This critical endorsement from a highly-read local news source comes just days after Attorney General Harris, the first and only statewide elected official to endorse in this highly competitive race, endorsed Fluke. Also earlier this week, Fluke announced her best fundraising quarter to date of the campaign, with an impressive $475,000 raised and $325,000 cash on hand going into the final crucial month of the election.
From The Argonaut: “We endorsed Fluke in the primary, and in the end we’re sticking with that endorsement due to her track record of legislative advocacy that has included bills on early childhood education, student loan debt relief and workers’ rights. Tested in the crucible of Rush Limbaugh’s venom while standing up to congressional bullies over women’s reproductive health care, Fluke may be a first-time office seeker but she’s been in the big game for a while. Vote for Sandra Fluke.”
In addition to Attorney General Kamala Harris, prominent Southern California Democrats have endorsed Fluke, including U.S. Rep Janice Hahn, U.S. Rep Julia Brownley, U.S. Rep Karen Bass, U.S. Rep Tony Cardenas, State Senator Holly Mitchell, State Senator Hannah-Beth Jackson, California Assembly Speaker Toni Atkins, Los Angeles Councilmember Mike Bonin, Los Angeles Councilmember Nury Martinez and former Councilmember Bill Rosendahl. Fluke has also been endorsed by several influential organizations including Planned Parenthood Advocacy Project, Sierra Club, California Firefighters, AFCSME California PEOPLE, UFCW Local 770, California Federation of Teachers, California Nurses Association, California League of Conservation Voters, California NOW, EMILY’s List, NARAL Pro-Choice California, Pride PAC, and Military Mental Health Project.
The Fluke campaign released a poll that shows Sandra is leading her opponent by an impressive seven point margin with an 18 percent name ID advantage. The detailed polling memo from Garin Hart Yang Research Group can be found here: http://www.standwithsandra.org/polling-memo. With Fluke’s lead in the polls and her continued accumulation of influential endorsements, the momentum is undeniably in her favor.
