SANDRA FLUKE FOR STATE SENATE STANDS WITH WORKING MEN AND WOMEN THIS LABOR DAY
Candidate for State Senate, Sandra Fluke, released the following statement in honor of Labor Day:
“I grew up in a union household and celebrating Labor Day has always been special to me and my family. I have a deep respect for working men and women, which has been reflected in my work throughout my career and in my priorities, including investing in growing industries to create good-paying jobs, advocating for fair wages and fighting for adequate worker protections.
Labor Day is also a time for us to reflect on the fact that with women making up 2/3 of our minimum wage work force, and the prevalence of gender-based pay-inequality, women are often the ones in this fight who need our support most. Increasingly women are becoming the breadwinners or sole providers for households, so if women are not paid a fair wage our entire economy is stifled. We can, and must, do better.
Today, and every day, I stand with working men and women and will never stop fighting for opportunity and equality for all.”
